University IT (UIT) is the university's central technology organization. It is dedicated to being the world's leading higher education IT organization, partnering with faculty, staff, students and alumni to advance Stanford's unparalleled research, teaching, learning, and healthcare mission. UIT delivers broad IT services and support in the areas of research computing, enterprise business applications, communications, information security,  IT facilities, and more.

Office of the CIO

The Office of the CIO integrates and coordinates internal governing processes and a university IT governance framework, defines the organizational vision, develops and delivers strategic messaging and communication, and sustains alignment and consistency. The office prepares the Stanford community for adoption of new and changing services, provides tools to aid in the development of UIT staff, and assists with staff's understanding of UIT's strategic direction.

Client Services

Client Services focuses UIT’s approach to providing the highest quality user-facing services and associated enabling functions.

Service Strategy

Service Strategy provides the foundation of UIT service delivery by coordinating multiple integrated processes. These processes support the proactive management of the UIT service portfolio, aligning our community’s needs with our overall strategy.

Information Security Office

The Information Security Office orchestrates efforts and provides services to protect the information assets that are important to Stanford.

Research Computing

Research Computing is a joint effort of the Dean of Research and UIT to build and support a comprehensive program to advance computational research at Stanford. This includes offering and supporting traditional high-performance computing systems (HPC), as well as systems for high throughput and data intensive computing.

Enterprise Technology

Enterprise Technology implements and maintains information systems that support university operations. In addition, this unit partners with schools, business units, and cross functional groups to identify and implement efficient, cost-effective IT solutions.

Communications and IT Facilities

Communications and IT Facilities consists of all on-premise enterprise data center and communications facilities engineering, as well as all enterprise data networking, communications, and related supporting technologies.
