Assistant Vice President for Business Affairs Finance and Administration

Luz Barragan

Luz is the Assistant Vice President for Business Affairs Finance and Administration, where she has management and leadership responsibility for finance and budget, human resources, trademark licensing and facilities for the Business Affairs organization. Her team oversees the Fringe Pool, SGG Project Fund and Insurance Budget; and manages the Stanford Alternative Work locations across the Bay Area. In addition, Luz also oversees the University's trademark licensing program and the Business Affairs Human Resources team, which coordinates a robust talent development program.

Luz joined Stanford via the School of Medicine in 2008 where she began as a financial analyst in Educational Programs and Services (EPS) and then as Associate Director of Finance and Administration for Dermatology. In 2011, Luz joined Business Affairs as the Budget Officer for Financial Management Services (FMS). Within FMS, Luz participated in a number of development assignments leading to a promotion to Director of Payment Services and later to FMS Chief of Staff.

Luz holds a Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Master of Science degree in Financial Planning and MBA all from Golden Gate University.
