Business Affairs in Redwood City - Design Principles

Late in FY 2015 Business Affairs Senior Staff met with RMA Design Studios to create our Guiding Design Principles for Business Affairs in Redwood City Campus.  These Principles are high level strategic guidelines for our Workspace Planning Process and provide the vision for what we are working to achieve with LBRE for the Redwood City Campus.

We completed Steps 1 and 2 on the Process Chart depicted on slide 4 of the attached presentation.  Business Affairs in it's role on the RWC Advisory Committee is now beginning Step 3 on the Process Chart with the workspace architects. We are beginning the discussions about how to realize our Design Principles as we develop workspace alternatives, investigate adjacencies and eventually Pilot sample workspace concepts.

Attract and retain world class employees.

Provide a healthy, safe, and productive work environment that supports employees’ varied tasks and work styles.

Foster a positive and open office culture that encourages informal interaction, collaboration, and sharing of knowledge.

Create flexible and efficient workspace that remains nimble for the future.

  • Share services whenever possible (copy/print, work rooms, conference, etc.) within Business Affairs and with the RWC Campus as a whole
  • Allow private offices and other ‘owned’ spaces to be used for meetings and other functions when they are not in use
  • Standardize furnishings to easily accommodate ‘seating chart’ reorganizations, and repurposing of rooms and spaces
