Financial Management Services

Financial Management Services (FMS) provides a business ecosystem that cultivates a simplified financial landscape to address the evolving needs of the community while safeguarding the university. The organization’s vision is to inspire and enable excellence in financial stewardship.

Office of Research Administration

The Office of Research Administration (ORA) provides an array of services for sponsored projects administration at Stanford University. ORA collaborates with multiple central and school partner groups to help deliver effective research administration services, systems, policies, and processes. The premier function of ORA is to ensure Stanford is fully compliant with sponsor terms and conditions, University policies, and federal regulations and requirements.

University IT

University IT (UIT) is the university's central technology organization. It is dedicated to being the world's leading higher education IT organization, partnering with faculty, staff, students and alumni to advance Stanford's unparalleled research, teaching, learning, and healthcare mission. UIT delivers broad IT services and support in the areas of research computing, enterprise business applications, communications, information security,  IT facilities, and more.

Improvement, Analytics, and Innovation Services

Improvement, Analytics, and Innovation Services identifies, prioritizes, and launches projects that measurably improve Stanford's business processes and services by looking broadly across the institution and through collaboration with university partners. We strive to create, instill, and sustain a business improvement discipline throughout Stanford that delivers transformed and efficient processes and services through a structured, data supported approach.

Office of the Chief Risk Officer (OCRO)

The Office of the Chief Risk Officer (OCRO) strives to be a valued partner and advisor to management, faculty, and the Audit, Compliance and Risk Committee of the Board of Trustees.

VP Business Affairs & Office of the CFO

The Office of the Vice President for Business Affairs and Chief Financial Officer coordinates activities, people, facilities and finance for the entire Business Affairs organization. In addition to the VP & CFO, it includes the AVP for Business Affairs Finance and Administration, a Manager of Financial Analysis and a Scope 3 Emission Program Manager.
